IELTS
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) which is used to test English language skills for studying, migration and employment globally.
There are two types of IELTS test:
- Academic IELTS
- General Training
There’s also other type of IELTS test called IELTS LIFE SKILLS
IELTS Academic is designed for those who wish to get enrolled in international universities or higher education institutes in English speaking countries.
IELTS General Training is aimed to test proficiency of English Language for those who want to immigrate to another country or as part of their job requirement in English Speaking corporate sector etc.
IELTS Life Skills is administered for those individuals who are required to be assessed in their English speaking and listening skills levels at Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) ranging from A1, B1 etc. and can also be benefitted to apply for any family or settlement visa in UK
IELTS test consists of basic four English language skills which are Listening (30 Mins) Reading (60 Mins) Writing (60) Mins and Speaking (15 Mins) tests and Speaking is separately arranged on a different date, there are four papers. Speaking and Listening in both versions of tests are same but reading and Writing are different. The whole IELTS tests takes 2 hours and 45 mins and is assessed with bands/scores system.
TOEFL
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is another most popular English language test worldwide which is used for studying in the U.S and other English-Speaking Countries. This test is also valid for two years once taken and is used as basic requirement by many English-speaking academic and professional organizations. This test also includes Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking tests.
During TOEFL test there are tasks which are combined to test these four basic skills answering either in written or spoken response.
EFL (Adults & Kids)
EFL stands for ‘English as a Foreign Language’. An EFL is a course that helps a learner over the age of 16 years old improve their English.
There are several EFL courses which a student can study. The course they study will depend on a range of factors such as: the student’s current English level; what that institution offers; what the student plans to do afterwards; and the intensity of their course.
EFL courses include Cambridge Skills for Life, EFL Intensive and EFL Part Time. There are various courses available for learners who wish to start EFL courses depending on their current level of English Language including English for Specific Purpose (ESP) Academic English and English for Business. These courses are delivered at different levels to acquire the necessary language skills to study material to complete assignment as part of their higher education course which is taught in English.
KET-PET
The Cambridge KEY ENGLISH TEST(KET) and Cambridge Preliminary TEST(PET) are offered in both versions KET and PET General and School to individuals within range of certain proficiency level in English Language based in CEFR.
PET & KET is one of the Cambridge English Test which is basic level of qualification to test students who are starting to learn English language or professional studies in English at diploma level.
These exam shows that one can communicate in English in practical, day to day situations. PET and KET are most popular in Vocational education set ups in Gulf and other parts of world where students are starting their professional or vocational studies.
The test has three parts: Reading & Writing – 60 minutes and 30 reading questions and two writing parts. Listening – 25 minutes.
Speaking – 8-10 minutes.
PTE
Pearson Test of English (PTE) is an English language test designed to assess the readiness of non-native English speakers to participate in a university level English language instruction program. PTE test also comprises of two versions of Tests PTE Academic and PTE and General.
PTE is divided into three main sections and total duration is three hours Speaking and Writing 77-93 Mins, reading 32-41 Mins and Listening 45-57 Mins.
PTE is also offered for students who want to apply in English Speaking Countries as TOEFL and IELTS but there are some important structural differences.
